Acid Jazz - 5 Piece Acid Jazz Band (SOUL DRESSIN')
Soul Dressin' is a five piece 'Acid Jazz' band paying tribute to the Soul Jazz pioneers of the late 60's and early 70's. Artistes such as Jimmy Smith, Grant Green and Lou Donaldson paved the way for the next generation of stars including Jamiroquai and Brand New Heavies.
Formed in 2002, Soul Dressin' features the mighty Hammond organ which provides the original hip 60's sound, around which the band is based. Drums, guitar, bass and an earthy saxophone complete the line-up, which gives a genuine acid jazz rendition of some of the best music ever recorded.
The members of the band have performed with many of the top stars of international jazz music, notable among them being The James Taylor Quartet, one of the UK's finest exponents of the genre. The band plays a mix of original material, along with covers of the artistes mentioned above and many other soul and acid jazz favourites. Typical sets might include: Cissy Strut The Cat Alligator Boogaloo Georgia South Wes Jody Grind Bring down the birds String Bean On Broadway and Soul Dressin', of course.
Soul Dressin' have performed at numerous classic jazz venues in London and throughout the UK, notably, The 606 Club, Dover Street Wine Bar and The Jazz Café. They have also featured in some of the country's top jazz festivals including those at Cheltenham, Peterborough and Jazz FMs Roadshows.
